"Pupils work hard and have positive attitudes to learning. They concentrate hard in lessons and their behaviour is good. They respect each other’s ideas and work well together. Pupils want to do well, and the vast majority of them produce work that they are, rightly, very proud of."

Meet the Chaplain

‘I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me’

My name is Karl Grexhammer and I am the part time Forest School leader and Chaplain at St Edward’s. I have been in education for over twenty-four years. I was a classroom teacher for thirteen years, a supply teacher for five years, a Forest School leader for over five years and more recently, I have been the part-time chaplain for St Edward’s.

I provide Forest School sessions for each class. During each session, children pray, learn outdoor education skills, improve their behaviours for learning, improve their collaboration skills and explore how they can look after God’s incredible natural world.

Liturgies and Collective Worship are provided by me, at various times of the year, I am the link between St Edward’s and our parish church (Our Lady of Lourdes), help to organise Mass and other liturgical events at church and at school, and lead outdoor based St Edward’s feast day and Stations of the Cross sessions.

The School Mission Team is led by me. We promote and discuss the Catholic ethos of our school, assist in class-based acts of worship, ensure the class prayer book is up-to-date, help set up for Masses and collective worship, assist during Mass, provide guidance for those further down the school and lead and take part in Catholic Social Teaching events and activities to help those in need.
